Khoemacau Copper Mining has developed an ESG standard with principles aligned to international best practise, for example, IFC. World Bank, ICMM and Equator Principles. In addition, and in accordance with Botswana law and regulatory processes, we ensure compliance with the requirements of the applicable laws and regulations of Botswana including the Environmental Impact Assessment Act of 2011, The Mines and Mineral Act, Waste Management Act and The Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Act.

Khoemacau aspires to be a sustainable copper and silver producer who is looking to responsibly minimise its carbon footprint. In our journey to fulfilling this aspiration we have successfully completed a prefeasibility level business study for our 45MW solar project which demonstrates commercial and technical viability for a 30% penetration solar PV plant. With optimisation of the design +50% penetration through the use of batteries is also commercially and technically viable.
